It’s National Great Outdoors Month!
Designated in June of 2019, National Great Outdoors Month is a time to celebrate the outdoors and recognize the benefits of our national, state, and local trails and parks. The first Saturday in June kicks off the celebration with National Trails Day. Trails offer an abundance of things to do for the whole family, such as a day hike and picnic, mountain biking, or a horseback riding adventure.
The Ozark Trail System
There are over 200 miles of publically accessible trails in Branson. The scenic and diverse Ozark Trail System provides a generous amount of places for relaxation and solitude, endless learning opportunities, wide-open spaces to move and exercise, and exciting days filled with fun and laughter.
Table Rock State Park is an excellent location for day hikes. There are three trails to choose from, ranging from easy to intermediate experience levels. There is one hiking specific trail, the 1.5-mile Chinquapin Trail, and two trails for hiking and biking, the 2.25-mile Lakeshore Trail, and the White River Valley Trail System, which offers four different loops totaling 11.75 miles. After your hike, numerous picnic sites provide shade to relax and fuel up for your next adventure.
The Ozark Trail Association website is a beneficial tool in finding the right trail for your family based on experience level and distance. You will also find maps, updates, tips, and safety guidelines.
Not into hiking or biking? Here are other fun ways to experience the Ozark Mountains. Ride the Branson Scenic Railway while savoring a four-course dinner by candlelight and taking in breathtaking views during a 40-mile round trip, feel the exhilaration of ziplining, tour spectacular landscapes in the caves below the entertainment of Branson, or get your adrenaline pumping on the mountain coaster.
