Branson in the spring is lovely, and really, all year-round. However, there is something truly magical about a Branson Christmas. The whole city comes alive with festive spirit and we dare you not to be sucked into the jolly mood and exciting activities.

The Polar Express is one of the unmissable things to do in Branson at Christmas. Passengers take a journey through Christmas and are entertained in an immersive Christmas story.
We have no doubt that you’ll love the Branson Christmas Train. Here’s everything you need to know to prepare for your magical train journey.
What is Polar Express All About?

Well, it’s none other than a ride to the North Pole to pick up Santa Clause. It is inspired by the 1985 story, The Polar Express.

Passengers are encouraged to wear pajamas so they can cuddle up with complimentary hot cocoa and cookies and listen to a story.

The Polar Express book is read aloud on the train journey. It is a story about a boy who very much doubted the existence of Santa. He boards a train and goes on a fantastical journey to the North Pole where he meets Santa and even receives a gift.

Families and passengers on the Branson Christmas Train will undergo the same journey. And yes, Santa will jump on board and deliver a gift to you too!

Branson Christmas Train Important Information

Here’s some important info to help you plan your journey to the North Pole. Hop on for a magical ride!

Departure Point
The train leaves from the historic 1906 depot located in downtown Branson, called the Branson Scenic Railway.

Tickets

Tickets can be purchased online here. The prices range from $36 for children between the ages of 2 and 12, and $46 for adults. This includes hot chocolate and a cookie.

Of course, as with any train journey, you can upgrade to a first-class ticket. These will cost $52 for children and $62 for adults.

In addition, there is a premium dome seating ticket for $62 for children and $72 for adults. With these tickets, you’ll get to drink and eat unlimited hot chocolate and cookies to your heart’s content. You’ll also get a ceramic mug souvenir.

This is an extremely popular Branson Christmas so booking tickets in advance is recommended. Tickets are non-refundable and cannot be changed, so make sure you book on a day that you’ll definitely be available!

How Long Is the Trip

Remember, this is a magical train. So, while the North Pole may seem very far on the map, the duration of the entire ride is only 1 hour 15 minutes.

Is There Food?

Other than the hot cocoa and cookies, food isn’t served or available on the ride. Remember to eat something before so that you don’t need to strain to hear the story over your grumbling tummy.

Pick up a Souvenir at the Gift Shop
You’ll want to get a memento to remind you of the fantastical trip to pick up Santa. There is a gift shop in the depot where you can buy a souvenir when you return from the North Pole.
